Government of India has been focusing on integrating Ayush system in National Health ecosystem and increased the total allocation of budget to Ayush Ministry by 20 percent to Rs 3647 crores in the Budget 2023-24.
Our Prime Minister had recently talked about need for evidence-based generation of database for Ayurveda. The increasing budget allocation to Ayush research councils and institutes reflected the same commitment. Considering the strength of Ayurveda, Yoga, and other traditional Indian system of medicine, the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM-WHO) in India is being setup. Establishment of WHO (GCTM) in India will directly affect investment in traditional medicine sector in India and India can emerge as a global leader with concerted efforts.
